What tricks can K.I.T.T. perform?
While we would love to say that K.I.T.T. can talk, drive by himself and crash through walls, the reality is that this car was a television prop. All of the gauges inside are “static” or “dummy” gauges. The red scanner light on the front of the car does work, however.
Can I take a ride in K.I.T.T.?
This car is available for display only and is not registered for road use due to its rarity and historical significance.
How do you know this car was used for filming and is not just a replica?
We have loads of documentation that can trace this car back to Universal Studios. Also, there are internal, hidden markings on the vehicle that allow us to not only determine which episodes this car was used in but even which scenes! The presence of special body mods and undercarriage damage is also consistent with the hard life these cars led on the set.
How many K.I.T.T. cars were there, and what role did this specific car play in the series?
Throughout the series, approximately 20 Trans Ams were used to portray K.I.T.T. This particular car was a stunt car used during the final two years of the show. As such, it is outfitted with a heavy-duty skid plate to protect the drivetrain, as well as a brake line lock that allowed the stunt drivers to spin the car around easily or do burnouts. Once the show canceled, this KITT got upgraded by the studio and went on tour duty for ten years.
What are your rates?
We charge $1500 for 2 hours, and $500/hour for each hour after that. Please inquire if you need a daily rate. There is no trailer fee if the destination is within one hour of Pittsburgh, PA.
