What Makes An Accurate K.I.T.T. Replica?

An age-old question in this hobby has been asked to us numerous times since we began this site – “What makes an accurate K.I.T.T. replica?” There are dozens of variations of the car that could be considered “screen accurate.” The studio used about 20 cars to depict K.I.T.T. during the four years the show was on the air. Like a fingerprint, no two cars were identical, and any given car could have been (and was) upgraded throughout the series.
We have built here at KSR an outwardly appearing precise replica of the original Hero Car that Michael Scheffe delivered to Universal Studios in 1982. Details such as the clear windshield with the rearview mirror mount still intact, the antenna stub in the fender, the original square voicebox, and so on will make this car stand out among the other replicas out there. Of particular interest is the scanner, which was custom-built using the original 1982 studio schematics, which has never been done before.
We say “outwardly appearing correct replica” because, under the hood, the car has enhancements, the likes of which have never been seen before on a K.I.T.T. replica. With a budget of $150k, we spared no expense in bringing K.I.T.T. to life the way he should be. All new upgraded Spohn suspension, a bulletproof 8.8 rear end, a 500hp 383 Stroker motor, and more.
